Homemade Play-Doh

i've never been a master in arts and crafts.... OR cooking. ah!! hari ni buat donut, the result was kuih yang keras mcm batu, baling kat anjing sebelah pun boleh mati. so frustrated!!

anyway, balik ke topik asal. last weekend i wanted to do something new for my arts and crafts session with baby m. google punye google, landed on several super easy play-doh recipe. there were a few, but i picked this one, since i had all the ingredients and could start right away.

3 cups flour
3 cups warm water
1 cup salt
2 tbsp cooking oil
2 tbsp cornstarch
food coloring

1. mix everything except food coloring in a large pot and stir over very low heat
2. as mixture starts to clump, remove from heat
3. start kneading dough until it becomes smooth like normal play-doh
4. divide dough into balls for coloring.
5. add coloring to individual dough balls and knead well until color fully absorbs
6. pop colored balls inside microwave for about 30 seconds




the result was, my very own homemade play-doh in 4 colors! sayang takde pewarna kuning, kalau tak dah boleh buat an addition of yellow and orange balls too! the texture of the dough is smooth and soft but it doesn't stick to the hands. by then it was night time, so kept it in the fridge before playing with it the next day.

so, how did baby m like it? she loved it!

when she first saw the colorful balls, her eyes were gleaming! and yes, as i suspected, when i gave one ball to her, terus dia masukkan dalam mulut dia! geram tengok the color i suppose. thank god homemade play-doh is safe kan.. but edible? i don't think so, because it's extremely salty!

so, what did we make? i managed to gentel the dough and made some snails, snakes, a butterfly and a small karipap... hahha, yes.. i'm so creative! hahah.. but tak sempat ambik gambar because as soon as i came back after cleaning my hands and reaching for the camera, baby m destroyed everything. she mixed up the colored doughs but i managed to save some from total damage. so dapatlah repeat main sekali lagi the next day.

but even if everything was ruined kan, it's really okay, because making it is so easy! and fun too! boleh buat a new batch anytime!
